Mexico has been actively mined for silver since the 16th century, and one of the areas of the country that has seen the most activity are the Royal Mines of the Zacualpan Silver District. From its relatively humble beginnings, Impact Silver Corp [TSX-V:IPT] has built up a profitable silver mining business here and has gone on to extend its reach into the Capire-Mamatia Silver District. Altogether it has over 211 sq km of of silver territory and four producing mines.
We caught up with the management team at Impact Silver at the Swiss Mining Institute. They described the company as "a leveraged silver play" mining high grade silver with thousands of veins in one of the oldest mining districts in central America. Indeed, the mine was once given as a present to the king of Spain by Hernan Cortes.
