I don't think we've tipped a football team on The Armchair Trader before. But when we see a stock with value characteristics like this one, we are tempted to jump in.
Buying stock in football teams has been something of tricky exercise over the year, with many investors blinded by the urge to just buy a stake in their team if it is listed, regardless of the balance sheet of the team (frequently debt-laden). Brand does come into it as well, but this can be hard to value accurately at the best of times.
In this case we have a stock which has given up a lot of ground (over 30%) in the last few years and has never got back to the highs it enjoyed before the pandemic. But it has a sector-leading balance sheet and looks like one of the best value stocks on any European stock market this summer.
